The TE-10-890 Single Stage N6 Viable Andersen Cascade Impactor System is a complete bioaerosol sampling solution designed for collecting and analyzing viable pathogens in ambient air, particularly bacteria and fungi. This professional-grade system provides reliable quantification of airborne microorganisms for indoor air quality assessment, occupational hygiene monitoring, and environmental microbiology applications.
Operating Principle
The impactor operates on the principle of inertial impaction, where air enters the sampler and accelerates through 400 precision-drilled jet orifices in the classification stage. Viable particles are inertially impacted directly onto an agar collection plate, while exhaust air is carried through the outlet to the vacuum source. Since bioaerosol particles impact directly onto the growth media, collection plates can be transferred directly to an incubator for microbial analysis.

Operation and Analysis
Petri dishes containing agar medium are placed in the instrument, air samples are drawn through the impactor collecting particulates on the agar medium, then dishes are removed, incubated, and counted by standard microbiological methods. The viable bacterial particulates are incubated, counted or identified, and results can be correlated to potential deposition sites in the human respiratory tract.
Performance testing demonstrates equivalence to the industry-standard Andersen N-6 impactor, ensuring reliable and reproducible results for professional bioaerosol monitoring applications. The system meets NIOSH requirements and ACGIH recommendations for sampling indoor and outdoor mold and bacteria.
