The TE-20-301 glass fiber filter provides precise 81mm diameter collection substrates for Anderson Cascade Impactors operating at the standard 28.3 ALPM sample flow rate. Glass fiber filters are commonly used for gravimetric analysis because they are lighter and less hygroscopic than other collection materials. This solid center configuration is optimized for stages requiring complete particle capture across the full collection surface.

    Technical Design

Cascade impactor operation relies on pre- and post-weighing of collection substrates to calculate particulate concentration, with particles separated by aerodynamic diameter and inertia as they impact onto the substrate surface. The filter substrate surface must be properly leveled to maintain the critical jet-to-collection surface spacing required for accurate particle separation.

    Key Specifications

    • Diameter: 81mm
    • Configuration: Solid center (no central opening)
    • Material: Glass fiber
    • Packaging: 100 filters per box
    • Compatible with size separation from >10µm to <0.4µm across nine aerodynamic size fractions

    Compatibility

Designed specifically for Anderson Cascade Impactors, including:

    • Tisch Ambient Eight-Stage Cascade Impactor (TE-20-800)
    • Ambient Viable Anderson Cascade Impactors (six-stage configuration)
    • Standard impactor stages requiring solid center substrates

For stages requiring open center configurations (typically stages 0 and 1), use TE-20-305 open center glass fiber filters or TE-20-305QZ quartz fiber open center filters.

    Installation and Use

Insert the pre-weighed filter into the designated impactor stage with the large diameter O-ring positioned around the filter periphery. When using flexible substrates like glass fiber filters, ensure the collection surface is level with the stainless steel lip and maintain upright sampler orientation during operation. Post-sampling gravimetric analysis determines particulate concentration through precise weighing of the loaded filters.
