The TE-20-301-QZ is an 81mm quartz fiber filter with solid center designed specifically for use with Andersen Cascade Impactors. Cascade impactors are multi-stage impaction devices used to separate airborne particles into aerodynamic size classes, and these filters serve as the collection substrates for precise particle size analysis in ambient air monitoring applications.
Technical Specifications
Made from inert, durable, humidity resistant, high-purity silica fibers, these quartz fiber filters deliver superior performance in demanding sampling environments. Temperature resistant up to 900°C, they maintain structural integrity under extreme thermal conditions. Excellent chemical stability against acidic gases such as SO&sub2;, HCl, SO&sub3;, SO&sub4;, NO, NO&sub3; (not HF) with hardly any loss of mass through chemical reactions.
- Diameter: 81mm
- Configuration: Solid center (no center opening)
- Material: 100% pure quartz microfiber (SiO&sub2;)
- Temperature resistance: Up to 900°C
- Package quantity: 50 filters per box
Compatibility
These solid center filters are designed for specific stages within Tisch Model 20-800 series Cascade Impactors designed for applications in ambient air where non-viable aerosol is to be collected and measured. The solid center design is used for stages that require complete substrate coverage for optimal particle collection. The 81mm sample substrates enable easy handling and weighing with analytical balance for gravimetric analysis.
Compatible with:
- Anderson Cascade Impactor systems
- Tisch Environmental TE-20-800 Eight Stage Non-Viable Impactor
- Other 81mm cascade impactor configurations requiring solid substrates
Applications
Quartz filters can be used for chemical speciation and physical characterization of sampled particles. Quartz fiber filters are used for air sampling in acidic gases, stacks, flues and aerosols, particularly at high temperatures and in PM-10 testing. Suitable for critical analysis and trace level determinations, atomic absorption spectroscopy, and flame emission spectrometry, with use highly recommended when determining heavy metal content in the atmosphere.
- Ambient air quality monitoring
- Particulate matter size distribution analysis
- Industrial emissions testing
- High-temperature stack sampling
- Gravimetric particle analysis
- Chemical composition studies of atmospheric particulates
Installation and Handling
The concentration of particulate is calculated by pre and post weighing of the 81mm sample substrates. Resistant to creasing and can be folded for better transport to the laboratory for analysis when using filters in field analysis. Store in clean, dry conditions, away from dust, moisture, and chemical vapors in sealed bags or containers to protect from environmental contaminants.
Handle with clean forceps to prevent contamination. Pre-condition filters according to your analytical protocol before use. The solid center design provides maximum collection area for complete particle capture during impaction sampling.
