The TE-241 cellulose fiber filter media provides reliable particulate collection for EPA-compliant Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) monitoring under 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix B. These 8" x 10" filters capture ambient particulates when installed in high volume air samplers operating at flow rates between 39-60 CFM.

    Performance Characteristics

Cellulose filter media performs separations by entrapping particulate within the random matrix of cellulose fibers throughout the depth of the media. TSP samplers collect all ambient particulates with no size selection, making this filter suitable for comprehensive particulate matter analysis including gravimetric analysis and subsequent chemical characterization.

    Compatible Systems

The TE-241 filter media is designed for use in Tisch Environmental high volume air samplers including:

    • TE-5000 Series TSP samplers (MFC and VFC configurations)
    • TE-1000 Series high volume samplers
    • All Tisch Environmental TSP systems with 8" x 10" filter holders

Filters are weighed before and after sampling to determine total suspended particulate matter concentration, supporting both regulatory compliance monitoring and research applications.

    Regulatory Compliance

This filter media supports EPA reference method sampling as specified in 40 CFR 50, Appendix B for TSP determination. The measurement process is non-destructive, and collected samples are typically adequate for subsequent chemical analysis including metals analysis, source apportionment studies, and environmental forensics.

    Applications

    • Ambient air quality monitoring for NAAQS compliance assessment
    • Monitoring of enclosed environments for elevated particulate matter levels
    • Emission monitoring from large diameter vents where conventional stack testing is impractical
    • Industrial hygiene and workplace exposure assessment
    • Research studies requiring comprehensive particulate characterization

    Storage and Handling

Careful filter handling between pre-sampling and post-sampling weighings is essential to avoid errors from fiber or particle loss. Store filters in a controlled environment to maintain integrity and prevent contamination before use.
