    The TE-300-310-1BL is a Mass Flow Controller PC Board designed for Tisch Environmental high volume air samplers equipped with brushless motors. This electronic control system uses a flow sensor to monitor mass flow rate and control motor speed accordingly to provide constant sampling rates, essential for EPA-compliant ambient air quality monitoring applications.

    Technical Operation

    The MFC system uses a hot wire anemometer flow sensor installed below the filter holder to monitor the mass flow rate in real-time. The hot wire anemometer detects changes in thermal mass to automatically increase or decrease motor speed as filter loading changes throughout the sampling period. The constant mass flow maintained by the MFC causes actual volumetric flow rate to fluctuate with ambient temperature and barometric pressure changes, but these fluctuations are normally within allowable tolerance limits.

    Sampler Compatibility

    This PC board assembly is specifically designed for Tisch Environmental high volume air samplers using brushless motors at 110V power. Compatible with TSP, PM10, and PM2.5 sampling configurations that require electronic mass-flow controller systems with flow sensors to control motor speed for constant sampling rates. Not compatible with brush-style motor systems or VFC (Volumetric Flow Controlled) configurations.

    Important: This is the brushless motor version (1BL designation). For brush motor applications, use TE-300-310-1. For 220V applications, use TE-300-310-1BLX.

    Installation and Calibration

    The PC board assembly requires proper connection to the flow sensor probe and brushless motor control circuit. The controlled flow rate is adjustable and must be set to the proper design flow rate, with the flow-rate set point correctly adjusted so deviations are centered with respect to seasonal average temperature and barometric pressure at the monitoring site. MFC sampler calibration relates known flow rates to exit orifice plenum pressure using an orifice transfer standard certified according to EPA procedures.
