The TE-33392 motor brushes are replacement carbon brushes specifically designed for the TE-115923 110-volt Volumetric Flow Controlled (VFC) motor used in Tisch Environmental high volume air samplers. These brushes maintain electrical contact between the stationary and rotating components of brush-style motors, ensuring reliable operation of VFC sampling systems for EPA-compliant ambient air quality monitoring.

    VFC System Operation

Volumetric Flow Controlled motors automatically adjust their speed to maintain constant volumetric flow rates despite changing filter loading conditions. The carbon brushes provide the critical electrical connection that allows the motor controller to modulate motor speed based on feedback from the volumetric flow controller. As filters load with particulate matter and resistance increases, the VFC system compensates by increasing motor speed to maintain the programmed flow rate.

    Specifications

    • Voltage: 110V systems only
    • Package: Set of 2 brushes (standard motor replacement set)
    • Material: Carbon composition for optimal conductivity and wear characteristics

    Compatibility

These motor brushes are specifically engineered for the TE-115923 110V VFC motor. They are NOT compatible with Mass Flow Controlled (MFC) motors, PUF motors, or 220V VFC systems, which require different brush specifications. For 110V MFC and PUF motors (TE-116311 and TE-116336), use TE-33384 brushes instead. For 220V VFC, MFC, and PUF motors (TE-116312, TE-116111, and TE-116125), use TE-33378 brushes.

    Maintenance Guidelines

Motor brushes are consumable components that wear during normal operation. Inspect brushes regularly for length and condition. Replace when brushes are worn to 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) or less in length, or if brushes show signs of chipping, excessive sparking, or uneven wear patterns. Brush replacement intervals vary based on operating hours, environmental conditions, and sampling duty cycles. Always replace brushes in complete sets to ensure balanced electrical contact and motor performance.

VFC systems require properly functioning brushes to maintain flow control accuracy. Worn brushes can cause motor speed control issues, leading to flow rate deviations that may affect sample validity and regulatory compliance.
