Anodized Aluminum TSP Shelter, Solid Front, with Gabled Lid
The TE-5001 is an anodized aluminum shelter designed for EPA-compliant Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) monitoring under 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix B. This reference method determines TSP mass concentration in ambient air by drawing a measured quantity of ambient air through a filter during a 24-hour sampling period. The solid front design provides weather protection while maintaining proper aerodynamic characteristics for TSP collection.
The gabled roof design ensures uniform air distribution and effective particle capture with air velocity between 20-35 cm/sec at the recommended flow rate of 40-60 ft³/min. The gable roof design allows sampled air to be evenly distributed over the surface of the downstream filter where TSP is collected. This configuration supports collection of particles with aerodynamic diameters of approximately 100 µm or less.
Construction and Durability
Manufactured from anodized aluminum for superior corrosion resistance and long-term outdoor performance. The anodized finish provides enhanced protection against environmental degradation while maintaining the structural integrity required for continuous ambient air monitoring operations.
Compatibility
The TE-5001 serves as the standard shelter for Tisch Environmental TSP high-volume samplers. Compatible components include:
- TE-5005 Aluminum Blower Motor Assembly
- TE-5004 8" x 10" Stainless Steel Filter Holder
- TE-5009 Continuous Flow/Pressure Recorder
- TE-300-312 Mass Flow Controller systems
Individual shelter components are available for replacement or repair, including front panels, side panels, and the gabled roof assembly (TE-5001-10). For applications requiring Mass Flow Controller (MFC) integration, consider the TE-5001-H variant with square hole front panel.
Regulatory Compliance
The reference method for TSP is codified at 40 CFR 50, Appendix B, which specifies the physical design requirements for TSP sampling equipment. TSP samplers are frequently used for lead monitoring and are suitable for capturing larger particulates such as heavy metals. Additional EPA guidance on flow rate requirements for lead sampling with TSP samplers provides specific operational parameters.
The acceptable operating flow range for TSP samplers is 1.1 to 1.7 m³/min (39 to 60 CFM), which the TE-5001 shelter design accommodates through proper inlet geometry and aerodynamic characteristics.
