47mm Filter Cassette for EPA FRM PM10/PM2.5 Ambient Air Samplers
The TE-FH47 filter cassette provides secure filter support and environmental protection for 46.2mm PTFE filters during 23- to 25-hour sampling periods in EPA Federal Reference Method ambient air monitoring applications. This cassette system maintains sample integrity while enabling compliance with EPA PM10 and PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standards monitoring requirements.
Technical Design
The cassette features a precision-manufactured housing with an integrated support screen that secures the filter membrane during sampling operations. EPA FRM samplers operate at 16.7 LPM to collect 24-hour samples for NAAQS compliance, and the TE-FH47 maintains proper filter positioning throughout the sampling cycle. The anti-static polyethylene bag prevents electrostatic interference that could affect gravimetric analysis, while the protective shipping container ensures filter integrity during transport to analytical laboratories.
EPA Compliance
This filter cassette system supports EPA-compliant particulate monitoring under 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix L for PM2.5 reference method sampling and 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix J for PM10 reference method sampling. The TE-WILBUR samplers are EPA-designated FRM samplers operating at 16.67 L/min using 47mm PTFE membrane filter media, requiring proper cassette design to maintain method certification.
Sampler Compatibility
The TE-FH47 is specifically designed for use with Tisch Environmental TE-WILBUR-10 and TE-WILBUR-2.5 Federal Reference Method samplers. The TE-WILBUR system can be configured for TSP, PM10, PM2.5, PM1 monitoring with flow rates between 1-25 SLPM, but FRM applications require the standard 16.67 L/min flow rate. The cassette's dimensions and threading ensure proper sealing with the sampler's filter holder assembly, preventing bypass leakage that would compromise sample validity.
What's Included
- 47mm filter cassette with integrated support screen
- Anti-static polyethylene storage bag
- Protective shipping container for laboratory transport
Handling and Storage
Each cassette ships with anti-static packaging to prevent electrostatic charge buildup that could interfere with filter weighing procedures. Each filter requires pre- and post-sampling weighing after moisture and temperature conditioning to determine collected PM mass. The protective shipping container maintains filter integrity during transport between field sampling sites and analytical laboratories, preventing contamination or sample loss.
Note: Filter media sold separately. Use only EPA-specified 46.2mm PTFE membrane filters for FRM compliance.
