High Volume Air Sampler for PUF Pesticide and VOC Collection
The TE-1000X is a high volume air sampler specifically configured for polyurethane foam (PUF) sampling of volatile organic compounds, airborne pesticides, and semi-volatile organic compounds in ambient air. This dual-chamber system incorporates a sampling module to collect both particulate matter and vapor-phase contaminants using polyurethane foam media, meeting EPA methods TO-4A, TO-9A, and TO-13A requirements.
The system uses a magnehelic gauge to record pressure drop through a critical orifice (venturi), allowing calculation of ambient or standard flow rates. The robust aluminum shelter houses all essential sampling components including the dual-chamber sampling head, blower motor, flow measurement instrumentation, and mechanical timer control.
Key Specifications
- Power: 220V, 50Hz configuration for international applications
- Motor: Brush-style motor with manual speed adjustment
- Timer: Mechanical timer for reliable start/stop control
- Flow Control: Manual flow adjustment with magnehelic pressure monitoring
- Housing: Anodized aluminum shelter for outdoor deployment
Dual-Chamber Sampling Design
The sampling head features a dual-chambered aluminum container with the upper chamber supporting airborne particulate filter media in a circular filter holder, while the lower chamber encompasses a glass cartridge containing polyurethane foam for vapor entrapment. This configuration enables simultaneous collection of both particle-bound and gas-phase organic compounds.
Compatibility and Applications
The TE-1000X is designed for EPA-compliant ambient air monitoring applications including:
- Collection of volatile organic compounds and airborne pesticides
- Sampling of organochlorine pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)
- Compliance monitoring per EPA TO-13A method requirements
- Environmental monitoring for industrial and regulatory applications
This configuration provides reliable, field-proven performance with brush-style motor operation that offers low initial cost but requires routine motor brush maintenance. The mechanical timer system delivers dependable sampling control without electronic complexity, making this an ideal choice for remote monitoring locations or applications requiring straightforward operation.
Note: Compatible PUF cartridges and replacement sampling media must be sourced separately based on specific analyte requirements and EPA method compliance needs.
