TE-F-290-GF Glass Fiber Final Stage Filter
The TE-F-290-GF is a 34mm glass fiber filter specifically designed as the final stage collection medium for TE-298 Marple personal cascade impactors. After the last impactor stage, remaining fine particles are collected on the built-in 34mm filter. Unlike slotted substrate filters used on impaction stages, this final filter has no slots and captures all particles that pass through the eight upstream impaction stages.
Technical Function
This glass fiber filter serves as the backup filter in the TE-298 cascade impactor operated at a flow rate of 2 LPM. Particle cut-points for the impactor series range from 21 to 0.5 microns, with this final filter collecting particles smaller than 0.5 micrometers that were not captured on the eight impaction stages. The glass fiber construction provides efficient filtration while maintaining structural integrity during the sampling process.
Key Specifications
- Diameter: 34mm
- Material: Glass fiber
- Configuration: No slots (solid filter surface)
- Package quantity: 100 filters per pack
- Operating flow rate: 2.0 LPM
Compatibility
This filter is specifically designed for use with the TE-298 Marple personal cascade impactor. The Tisch Environmental 290 series marple personal cascade impactor is a multi-stage personal size selective device made of lightweight aluminum impaction stages weighing less than 7 ounces. Do not use with other impactor models as filter dimensions and specifications vary between systems.
For slotted substrate filters used on the impaction stages of the same system, see TE-290-GF (6-slot configuration). Multiple 34mm collection medias are available for different analytical requirements.
Installation and Maintenance
Prior to sampling, collection substrates and the back-up filter are weighed and placed in the impactor. The final stage filter must be pre-weighed before installation for gravimetric analysis. Handle filters with tweezers to avoid contamination. Replace the filter after each sampling period as specified in your monitoring protocol.
Applications
The Personal Cascade Impactor provides complete and accurate aerodynamic particle size distributions of particulate in personnel environments. This final filter is essential for occupational health monitoring, environmental compliance assessments, and industrial hygiene applications where complete particle collection and size distribution analysis are required. 34mm sample substrates allow easy handling and weighing with analytical balance.
