    The TE-5170VZ is a high volume air sampler configured for Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) sampling in accordance with EPA reference method requirements. This system provides measurement of the mass concentration of total suspended particulate matter in ambient air for determining compliance with national ambient air quality standards.

    Volumetric Flow Control System

    The VFC configuration uses a critical orifice with a predetermined orifice hole diameter to control the flow rate, drilled and calibrated to maintain the predetermined flow rate through the filter. The motor operates wide open while the critical orifice maintains constant flow rate. Flow rates are maintained between 40-60 ft³/min (1.1-1.7 m³/min) over the sampling period.

    Control and Timing Components

    The mechanical timer provides simple, dependable start and stop control for routine field operations. The elapsed time indicator is a mechanical clock that counts hours and minutes during active sampling, used to track motor life, brush changes, and verify sampling time.
