The TE-5170VFC delivers EPA-compliant Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) sampling for ambient air quality monitoring and research applications. This high volume air sampler measures the mass concentration of total suspended particulate matter in ambient air for determining compliance with national ambient air quality standards.

VFC PLUS Technology

The PLUS controller system provides microprocessor-based volumetric flow control with integrated environmental sensors for precise, real-time monitoring. The system utilizes a microprocessor based controller for instantaneous and accurate flow control, with built-in temperature and barometric pressure sensors along with the microprocessor-based mass flow controller to accurately calculate the flow rate. The VFC design uses a critical orifice to maintain constant flow rate while the brushed motor operates at full capacity.

PLUS Controller Features

The PLUS technology flow controllers include a built-in digital timer with internal battery backup, multiple elapsed time indicators, and four data logs with an external USB drive for data retrieval. Data logging captures ambient temperature, barometric pressure, total ambient flow, and standard flow rates with minimum and maximum values for quality assurance.

EPA Compliance

Meets EPA reference method requirements codified at 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix B for TSP collection. TSP sampling continues to be required for airborne lead monitoring in accordance with 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix B. The anodized aluminum shelter design allows uniform particle collection from all sides with the gabled roof assembly providing weather protection.
