The TE-5170XZ is a high volume air sampler configured for Total Suspended Particulate (TSP) sampling in accordance with 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix B. This EPA reference method provides measurement of total suspended particulate matter in ambient air for determining compliance with national ambient air quality standards.

Mass Flow Control Technology

The integrated mass flow controller (MFC) maintains consistent sampling flow rates by automatically adjusting motor speed based on real-time flow feedback from a hot wire anemometer probe. The hot wire anemometer probe is inserted into the flow stream and automatically adjusts motor speed as the filter begins to collect particulate, compensating for filter loading throughout the 24-hour sampling period. The system samples between 40-60 ft³/min (1.1-1.7 m³/min) of air with the sampling rate held constant over the sampling period.

System Components

Housed in a rugged anodized aluminum shelter with gabled roof design that allows ambient air to enter from all four sides.
