A single-use hydrophobic vent filter reaches sterilizing-grade retention on a vent line without the autoclave cycle or in-line housing a reusable gas filtration setup would require. Hydrophobic PVDF passes gases freely while holding back water while achieving sterile-grade retention at sub-micron pore sizes and resists HPLC mobile phases, alcohols, and mild hydrocarbons. The polypropylene housing holds its seal true run after run while shedding virtually no extractable material into the sample and resists degradation from routine sample matrices. A vent or gas line stays free of airborne bacteria once a hydrophobic, sterilizing-grade membrane is in the path.
