Featuring a thin, microporous polycarbonate film with precisely defined cylindrical pores, this 0.1um hydrophilic Polycarbonate Track Etched (PCTE) membrane disc delivers exact surface capture across a 293mm format. All particles larger than the 0.1um pore size are retained on the smooth, flat surface, making the membrane well suited to high-purity filtration and microscopic analysis. The polycarbonate film is treated with a polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) wetting agent to render it hydrophilic, and each lot is produced through a two-step track-etch process for tight control over pore size and density.

Key Polycarbonate Track Etch Membrane Characteristics

    • Hydrophilic surface: treated with a PVP wetting agent so aqueous samples wet out readily.
    • Precise cylindrical pores: 0.1um pores formed by ion-track etching capture all particles larger than the rated pore size on the surface.
    • Smooth, translucent film: a glass-like planar surface eases particle identification by optical and electron microscopy and resists chemical staining.
    • Low protein binding: BSA protein binding of 5 ug/cm2 supports clean, low-background results.
    • Robust construction: superior tensile strength allows aggressive handling, with a minimum burst strength of 10 psi (0.7 bar) and a maximum operating temperature of 140 degrees C.

    Key Construction Characteristics

    • Material: Polycarbonate Track Etched (PCTE) film, 5 to 7 um thick.
    • Format: 293mm diameter disc, white and not gridded.
    • Sterility: supplied nonsterile, 20 discs per pack.
    • Compliance: passes USP Class VI testing with negligible leachables.

This membrane provides reproducible surface retention and reliable flow control for liquids moving through the film. Its low extractables and low protein binding help maintain sample integrity, while the smooth, translucent surface keeps background interference to a minimum during downstream microscopic evaluation.

    • Epifluorescence Microscopy The smooth, translucent surface and surface-capture pore structure make the membrane ideal for collecting and viewing particles by fluorescence and optical microscopy.
    • High-Purity Filtration Precisely defined 0.1um cylindrical pores support clarification and particle separation in applications where high purity is required.
    • Microscopic Particle Identification The glass-like planar surface captures all particles larger than the pore size on the surface for direct optical or electron microscope analysis.
    • Cellular-Based Filtration Assays The hydrophilic, low protein binding membrane suits cell capture and assay work with minimal background interference.
    • General Laboratory Filtration Robust polycarbonate construction withstands aggressive handling during routine sample preparation and filtration.
