The membrane is produced through a two-step track-etch process in which polycarbonate film is exposed to ion particles that create tracks, which are then chemically etched into precise, cylindrical pores, providing tight control over both pore size and density. Treated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) for hydrophilic wettability, it captures particles larger than the pore size directly on its smooth, flat surface.
