Featuring a thin, microporous polycarbonate track etch (PCTE) film with precisely defined cylindrical pores, this 47mm membrane disc delivers a 0.2um pore size for high-purity and general filtration. The membrane is produced through a two-step track-etching process in which polycarbonate film is exposed to ion particles that create tracks, which are then chemically etched into precise, cylindrical pores. Although polycarbonate is naturally hydrophobic, this membrane is treated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to render it hydrophilic, supporting aqueous and alcoholic samples. The result is a thin, translucent, white film with a smooth, flat surface that captures all particles larger than the pore size directly on its surface.

Key Polycarbonate Track Etch (PCTE) Membrane Characteristics

    • Hydrophilic surface: PVP treatment makes the naturally hydrophobic polycarbonate wettable for processing aqueous and alcoholic samples.
    • Precise surface capture: Absolutely-rated, narrowly distributed cylindrical pores capture particles on the membrane surface for accurate, reproducible size separation.
    • Smooth, glass-like surface: The thin, translucent planar film is well suited to particle identification and microscopy.
    • Superior strength: A tensile strength greater than 3,000 psi (207 bar) maintains pore size and density without stretching.
    • Low protein binding and low extractables: Minimizes nonspecific binding and helps keep results clean and consistent.

    Key Construction Characteristics

    • Material: Polycarbonate Track Etch (PCTE) film.
    • Format: 47mm membrane disc, white, not gridded.
    • Pore size: 0.2um.
    • Sterility: Nonsterile.
    • Pack: 100 per pack.

This membrane provides consistent, reproducible filtration with sharp surface retention and minimal sample interaction. Its low extractables and low protein binding help preserve sample integrity, while the smooth, translucent surface supports downstream microscopic and optical analysis.
