Featuring a hydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane rated at 0.1um in a polypropylene housing, this disposable Calyx capsule filter is designed for the removal of particles or bacteria from aqueous or solvent solutions and gas streams. The unit ships ready to use, eliminating the need to disassemble, clean, and reassemble traditional filter housings, and terminates in 1/4 inch NPTM connections. It is supplied nonsterile, one per pack.
Key PTFE Membrane Characteristics
- Naturally hydrophobic: the PTFE membrane resists wetting by water, making it well suited to chemical and vent filtration.
- Broad chemical compatibility: withstands acids, bases, oxidants, and aggressive organic solvents.
- Low extractables: capsules containing membrane media are pre-flushed with purified water to reduce extractables.
- No glue or surfactants: the construction avoids adhesives and surfactants that can contaminate sensitive samples.
- Serial layer design: a serial layer filter design increases throughput and extends service life.
Key Construction Characteristics
- Housing: molded polypropylene body for durable, chemically resistant service.
- Connections: 1/4 inch NPTM inlet and outlet fittings.
- Venting: two upstream vents facilitate venting in any orientation.
- Sterility and pack: nonsterile, packaged one per pack in low particulate plastic bags and individual boxes.
- Quality: passes class VI toxicology testing and is integrity tested prior to shipment.
This capsule delivers dependable particle and microbial removal across demanding chemical and gas applications while maintaining sample integrity. The hydrophobic PTFE medium provides reliable performance with corrosive and solvent-based streams, and the pre-flushed, surfactant-free construction protects downstream processes from contamination.

- Chemical Filtration The hydrophobic PTFE membrane handles acids, bases, oxidants, and aggressive organic solvents for clean chemical processing.
- Vent and Gas Filtration The water-repellent PTFE medium and dual upstream vents make this capsule well suited to process air and gas stream filtration.
- Solvent Clarification Removes particles from solvent solutions while resisting wetting and chemical attack.
- Electronics-Grade Chemical Filtration The low-extractable, surfactant-free construction supports filtration of high-purity electronics-grade chemicals.
- Bulk Chemical Processing Broad chemical compatibility allows reliable particle removal from bulk and fine chemical streams.
- Sterile Venting The hydrophobic membrane supports venting of tanks and vessels while excluding liquid intrusion.
