Featuring high-purity ashless cellulose construction, this quantitative filter paper delivers very slow filtration with a nominal particle retention range of 2 to 3um, making it the finest-retention grade in the quantitative ashless series. Each 55mm circle is manufactured from refined pulp and pure cotton linters with an alpha-cellulose content of virtually 100%, providing the low-residue purity required for critical gravimetric determinations. With a nominal thickness of 160um, a basis weight of 100 g/m2, and an ash content below 0.007%, this Grade 42 medium retains extremely fine precipitates such as barium sulfate and finely divided calcium carbonate while keeping the filter blank negligible.

    Key Cellulose Filter Paper Characteristics

    • Naturally hydrophilic cellulose medium that wets readily for consistent aqueous filtration
    • Nominal particle retention range of 2 to 3um, the finest in the quantitative ashless series, captures very fine and colloidal precipitates
    • Very slow filtration speed prioritizes maximum retention of fine particles over throughput for analytical precision
    • Ash content below 0.007% supports ignition-based and gravimetric procedures where filter residue affects results
    • Refined pulp and pure cotton linter construction with virtually 100% alpha-cellulose content for high purity

    Key Construction Characteristics

    • Ashless quantitative cellulose paper suitable for Buchner funnels and filtration under pressure
    • 55mm diameter circle format
    • Nominal thickness of 160um with a basis weight of 100 g/m2
    • Nonsterile
    • Supplied 100 discs per pack

This filter paper maintains reproducible mass uniformity across production lots, helping preserve method reproducibility in standardized protocols. Its ultra-low ash content ensures gravimetric results reflect captured material rather than residue from the paper itself. The fine, very slow medium delivers reliable retention of the smallest precipitates while protecting sample integrity throughout the determination.

    • Gravimetric Analysis Retains very fine precipitates such as barium sulfate and metastannic acid for accurate mass determination.
    • Instrumental Sample Preparation Removes fine particulates ahead of ICP, ICP-MS, and AAS analysis to protect sensitive instrumentation.
    • Cement and Mineral Testing Serves as a calcium carbonate filter for elemental content determination in cement and mineral samples.
    • Total Ash Determination Provides an ultra-low blank for ash content testing in food, pharmaceutical, and material samples.
    • Environmental Soil Analysis Separates solid matter from aqueous soil extracts for trace-level environmental measurements.
    • Colloidal Precipitate Collection Captures precipitates prone to colloidal dispersion that pass through coarser quantitative grades.
