A spot of blood, buccal cells, or tissue lysate dries onto the FTA matrix, where the nucleic acid stays fixed in place. The treated cellulose ruptures cells and inactivates pathogens at the point of collection while clearing inhibitors through a simple on-card wash and locks DNA and RNA in place at room temperature. Where field collection meets the lab bench, FTA cards move stabilized nucleic acid from spot to sequencer without a cold chain.
