FTA chemistry locks DNA and RNA in place at room temperature while lysing cells on contact and denaturing proteins and washes in place for direct amplification from the punch. When a genotyping run needs nucleic acid ready on demand, the punched FTA disc carries bound DNA straight into amplification.
