A single-use hydrophobic vent filter reaches sterilizing-grade retention on a vent line without the autoclave cycle or in-line housing a reusable gas filtration setup would require. PTFE stays chemically inert against aggressive solvents, strong acids, and alkalis in service while filtering aggressive organic solvents without breakdown and repels water while passing gases and solvents freely. The polypropylene housing preserves sample chemistry across the flow path while standing firm against aqueous acids, bases, and alcohols during regular handling and presses snugly against the membrane during the pass. No separate sterilization cycle is needed when the gas path already runs through a validated sterile-grade membrane.

Membrane Characteristics

• High membrane porosity, 70 to 80 percent void volume, delivers high flow at low pressure
• Node-fibril microstructure resists compaction under sustained operating pressure
• Fully fluorinated carbon backbone resists ultraviolet and ozone degradation
• Stable across a wide operating temperature range for demanding methods
• Strong oxidizing agents like nascent chlorine and concentrated sodium hydroxide cause no attack

Housing Characteristics

• Inert polyolefin wall contributes minimal sample adsorption to the filtrate
• Housing tolerates elevated-temperature aqueous and solvent sample filtration up to about 80°C without softening
• Standardized luer connection geometry provides secure engagement with standard syringe tips
• Low moisture absorption keeps the housing dimensionally stable through humid storage and shipping

Sterilization Guidance

The housing supports customer autoclave sterilization at 121°C for 30 minutes.
